Health Checks

Health in Gear understands the challenges transport and logistics workers face when it comes to accessing medical support. Our health check’s have been developed to provide transport and logistics with an opportunity to have a brief chat about their health and wellbeing.

The health check is private and confidential, it takes 15-20 minutes and is led by a nurse and accompanying support worker. During this mobile health check, workers are asked a series of questions in relation to their mental health and general physical wellbeing.

A blood pressure test and cholesterol test are utilised to understand the worker’s physical condition. Risk factors of chronic disease are also addressed and recommendations for actions are then discussed and agreed on with the worker. This is all about small and achievable goals that a transport and logistics workers can improve on, with support from the Health in Gear team.

The health check provides an easy and time efficient way to outline health issues and suggest small changes that will improve health and overall wellbeing. Progress is checked via phone call after 3 weeks, 3 months and 6 months to support workers to implement changes that are identified as important to them.
