Sally Tipping
Why did you become a truck driver and how long have you been driving for?

I accidentally fell into the Transport Industry after falling in love and marrying my truck driving husband Grant in 1990. At the time, he was operating a small transport company with his parents, working and living in Dubbo, Central West NSW.

What’s the best part of your job?

The absolute best part is seeing one of our trucks cruising down the highway with their shine applied!

Doesn’t get much better than that!

What is the most significant positive change you have seen across the industry since you’ve started driving?

A positive public perception is slowly increasing, particularly, during COVID. Our industry is finally being recognized for its achievements. This is long overdue and I am hoping it will continue to improve and that truck drivers will gain the recognition they deserve.

What makes you happy at work?

An awesome playlist clears my headspace and helps me power through the day!

What makes you happy outside of work?

I am happiest when I am surrounded by my family, where we can all relax but also roast each other at the same time!

What’s the most important thing you do that improves your wellbeing at work?

To ensure I have a break or rest, either by having a walk, having a chat, something that disconnects me from work for a short time.

What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not at work?

Having a really nice meal with friends, although this has been few and far between during COVID, unfortunately. Hoping 2022 will be a great time to reconnect.
